need Versitle mike for Solo Project

I know that this is obvioulsy not the ideal situation but I am putting together a solo project where I will be shooting/ acting/ and every other thing by myself. and I need a versitle mike that I have to have mounted on the DVX do to lack of hands. I know that this can only yeild a certain quality of results but I will be on the road (overseas) by myself for a month and really would like the sound to be as good a possible without adding a whole new level of un-doability to a already overwhelming project.
most of the piece will be narated at a later date but I still want the best ambiet sound possible. my budget isn't very high but if it is the difference between a coupple hundred buck and ok sound and really good sound I will spend the extra $$$$.
thank you for your advice.
also what mounts and windscreens would you recommend for the mic.

I don't remember where, but somewhere I saw a freaky getup in which some type of harness held a long curving boompole that projected from between a shooter's shoulders, over his head, to a point a few feet ahead. Looks goofy, but may be helpful for what you want? You could at least bui;ld something like this... in any case, there's no reason the mic HAS TO be on the camera... get it as far away as you can!

Ulanta- I would be intersted in the "freaky getup" if you can find the link
but I think I do need it mounted. as I am going to be in a bunch of the shots. I wouldn't be able to wear the mike also (obvioulsy)
as I was scouring through the forums someone mentioned something about Stereo Shotgun Mic's
is this something that would help me and if so. does any one have any recomendations?

RaspyBunk- I checked out Musicians Friend but did not see what you were referring to I will look better later.
thanks

I think you need to better explain to us the details of what you'll be doing... camera on tripod? Shooting in a mirror? Held at arm's length pointing at you? Controlled by remote, or push the button then run into frame? All still shots? In most of these cases, you can still place a mic very nicely, far from the camera...

Yeah I suppose more descriptieves would be nice.
the main restriction is that I will be in Ireland, Italy, and Croatia by myself. so I won't have a 2nd set of hands in any way. I will be traveling with a light weight (yet sturdy) tripod and will also have a Steady stick. 90% of the film will be Narated (not on on location) but the other 10 % will be dialog on location.
I want the sound to sound as good as possible but at the same time I don't think I can travel with a boom and a stand I will already be weighed down with my normal gear + camera gear.
thanks

Maybe I misspoke (wrote) the majority of the dialog will be added post. so basically what I want is really good ambient sound to possibly mix down and put voiceovers in later.
at least that is what I think I need. (I am new to the sound thing)
but should I also get a wireless lav for the times that I want to have dialog on location and will it work for multiple people. (also not sure how many "participants" are going to be willing or conscious of the fact that they may be in the scene. so I don't know if wiring up others will be a option in many of the cases.)
any way sorry that I am not explaing myself well. I am anxious to buy a mic and start testing before I leave in a month.
thanks
