Actually lowell lights are not the best lights for greenscreens.

I always light green screens with kinos. but you probably can't afford that. There are some good threads on this site about lighting green screens, do a search.

you need space to light the screen seperate from the character and keep the green screen evenly light with no shadows on it.

Are green-screen shoots all that you will do?
The most valuable lights I think you can have are 650 fresnels- Arri or Mole. Mix them with some Larger lights- 1k Fresnel and you can light a lot of different situations. Build a "coop" with a shower curtain, interviews- you name it.

A green screen is more diffficult. How big is the area you need to light? How much room do you have? How many people/how big a subject are you trying to key?

p.s. Is Angelic Brewing still there? Lived in Madison for a year, and there's several of the best breweries around.

I agree with Jeff & Icarus. Kinos or flourescents are the best to light green screen with. The 650 or even better a 1k arri or mole with achimera will do as weel and be more versatil in the future. In a budget crisis you could do some sort of work light through a shower curtain. Just be sure you evenly light the screen for easy keying.

Thanks for all your help. All I need is to have one person stand in front green back ground. I tried with lights from hardware store. The objeck is very yellowish. I gues because I have no idea what I am doing. I know to use Vegas and use keying the green back ground but still not look good. What I am looking for a brand name or site that link to it or a set of lights can do the trick.
Jeff, I use to live in SunPrairie east site but it was 5 years ago.
I live in GreenBay at the moment.
Thanks

I don't do a lot of green screening, so take this with a grain of salt.

But what I know is that you have to light your subject and the screen separately.

And you need to have some distance (like at least 10 feet) between the subject and the screen, to keep green tints from distorting the color balance of your subject.

So I would use some flos to light the green screen enenly (just make sure their light is cut so that it doesn't also fall on the talent). Then light the talent as you normally would (with the light cut so that it doesn't hit the green screen).

Joe,
I am getting to know he whole concepts now after reading all the replies. Now, I am using light from hardware store. A yellow stand with 2 lights ( working garage lights, if you know what I mean). Now I heard softlight should go to the object. Where I can find them. Can I find it fro walmart or hardware store. What brand I should. Once I read on Videomaker magazine. I need to light the background then light the object seperately. And my camera shoud be at 6 oclock and two soft light should be at 3 and 9 oclock. Am I right?
When you said "light cut" does this mean soft or fill lights (what the hell is fill light he..he..)
