ok the screenwriter/director has this cool hitchcock-esque shot that i'm sure can be done but i thought i would see what sort of tips i could get on here on ways to acomplish it...

basically the character is to run right at the camera, passing just below it, the camera will pans down as he approaches, ultimately pointing straight down at the top of his head as he passed directly under the camera and THEN CONTINUE to track him until it is upside down pointing at him pretty much level with where it started right-side-up.

keep it simple...i have a crane but it will just about do the 180 degree but then the crane body will be visible.

i have the bogen 3 foot thing with the sliding mounts to attach a camera/head etc but what is the best way to pivot the mount so it is smooth?

i have a ton of widgets but most all of it is based around keeping things secure not letting them pivot arond fluidly!

I did that once standing on a wall and a ladder and holding the cam between my legs - also you could have two guys on two ladders holding the cam in the middle of a long 2x4 with a camera mount. have them rotate it down and back to make the shot - not that smooth but will do it.

i guess the first thing is to do a test from approximately the same height and have the camera set to the same framing and see how wide it can see on the ground on both sides.

this will give me an idea how wide it can see so i know how far apart the supports have to be to not be in the shot.

i have a bogen rectanglular block that take the 501/503 tripod plates that has holes in it and it can be mounted to anything flat like.

i could mount that to a really long 2x4to stay way out of the way, and if the person isn't walking too fast it woud be easy enough to rotate the 2x4
