Need to digitize MPEG IMX footage into FCP...HELP!

I have a Panasonic DVCPro 50 deck and a SONY J-3 deck (MPEG IMX, etc) and a batch of tapes to digitize. The decks were delivered to me with the assumption I had all the hookups --- I only have Firewire as far as video capture goes. The Sony J-3 of course has no Firewire output. Can I go out of the deck into the Panasonic BNC inputs and back out of the Panasonic's Firewire into my Mac? I'm on an iMac here :D Sorry if this is "nubie-ish", I've been spoiled with P2 offloads for awhile here :D
 
I'd dub to DVCPRO50 tape first then capture DVCPRO50 via Firewire. So you get timecode.
