Need to capture or export Progressive?

Hello good folks. I'm on PPro 1 w/out the native 24p feature. Anything I shoot on the DVX is written to tape as 60i footage, correct? So when I import and export my footage, will it look any better if I do it progressively? It seems like it should not, but when I burn a progressive DVD it just seems to look sharper. Is is just me?

Thanks

I burn most of my final DVD's as progressive. I too notice it looks a tad better. However, some older DVD's don't have the ablitly to playback at progressive so it with give the flicker.

So, even if I'm capturing and editing my footage as interlaced material, it will look better as a progressive export?

Thanks!

Honestly, there's not that much or probably no difference in quality. I just did some more test and I notice probably very little. Progressive does takes longer to render though.

When you shoot 24p with your DVX and capture into PPro 1.5, your settings don't matter -- Premiere will always treat it as 24p and remove the pulldown.

Since your video will always be 24p and you have no access to those extra fields the DVX wrote to tape, you are best off working in a 24p timeline right from the start.

If you are exporting an MPEG to DVD, export it as 24p.

Do not try to use your footage in PPro in a 60i timeline -- yes, even though it is written that way by the DVX to tape, PPro is pretty wrongheaded about this.

That's why I mentioned I'm on the first PPro, not 1.5
I have no 24p support. Hopefully I can get Vegas sometime soon, though.
My question ends up being: since I'm capturing 60i, does it make any difference to output progressive?
