need to assemble a lighting kit

well i finally bit on the canon XHA1 and the g2 wireless kit. we shoot docs, so lots of interviews and outdoor broll. I've got a few home depot gift cards (around $300), and i was wondering if people actually got proper lights and stands on the cheap there. I know purists say this is junk, but i was curious if I could actually assemble a small kit that would allow me to light the interviews well enough. I also want to overhead a mic when needed. Any suggestions, of should i just go with pro stuff and assemble as money permits. Thanks.

Get a Chinese lantern and a few full-size flashlights and you'll be golden.

(But seriously, read the stickies at the tops of the pages.)

* 2 Manfrotto A625 LIght stands
* 1 Manfotto 3398 Convertible boom
* Small Silverdome Nxt Softbox with Egg Crate
* Photoflex swivel mount
* Photoflex speedring
* Lowel Tota -- 500w
* Flexfill adjustable holder
* 2 Lowel Pro lights, 1 w/snoot and 1 w/barndoors
* Rosco Cingel sample kit
