need sound help w/ DVX100b-lavalier problem

I am new to all of this. I did an interview with my 92 year old grandmother, had the sound on the camera cranked up max, using Sony lavalier wired mike. The sound was still too weak. What is a guy to do? The mike was attached to her jacket collar. I am doing another interview tomorrow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I have a setting wrong? Not using the internal camera mike at all. Thanks.

did you have it set up to external mic maybe you were running on camera mic or the mic needs some kind of preamp?? but I doubt it. Is she really soft spoken or is it the system you are using???
