Need Some Logo Help

Brandon Rice

Distributed Producer
We're looking for some conceptual ideas for our new TV show pilot. The logo needs to be kid's oriented and fun... the show title is "It Really Happened" and the show is basically a history show, but totally FUN for kids. Your help is really appreciated!

i know a graphic designer who can do this stuff, but would need to know if this project is actually your project or for the company you work for? ownership of the logo and possible payment info would be nice.

It's for the project I am working on... which can be found in the User Films section. We're looking for some concepts... only payment we can offer is credit at this point... and I thought some of the awesome people here on DVXuser could help out :)

its understood that you are working on the project, ive read the thread, but theres a difference between helping a friend with their own logo and creating a design thats being used by a company who can afford to hire someone , im curious which it is. Your 9 - 5 at company X or your personal time project?

My personal projects are now a part of this company. I am an integral player here, and I want to build this into a self sufficient studio. So, I hope that makes sense. All my endeavors (Including my feature project) are through this studio. :)

What is the name of this company? any info or website, it would be nice to know then who wed be getting involved with, not just blindly handing over designs.

Ya know, nevermind :) It's no problem. The company is Signature Productions, no website yet, as I said, very early stages of really getting this thing going :) The info is it's three of us here, myself, Henry (VFX) and Brad Silverman (Story, Directing).

well idunno what i said, but i just was thinking we should know a bit more info behind the projects and whether its worth while to invest time in something before doing it. I thought it was a fair question, no need to change your mind because of me.

just like the marketplace, want to check the integrity of who we are dealing with so we dont get scammed. no reason to keep secrets.

Fair enough, I thought people around here knew me better than to think I was trying to pull a fast one. LOL!

I dont think you are going to take our logo and run off with it and disappear, i dont know if thats what you thought i meant.

i meant it in the sense that you seem to have a decent budget if i remember correctly, and I was curious about why this cant be put into the budget.

It sounds like you are coming here in the same way Z Farms did for his logo (in the sense of it just being doing him a favor for his little thing hes got going to make a few bucks here and there to buy a Wii, NOT get a pilot put together) We know hes in school and what not.

but when actually its kinda sorta maybe a personal project but we still cant be sure from the answer you gave.

i just feel like we werent getting the full story from you is all. not saying you are decieving anyone, dont think that, i just think theres more info to be known and that should be known if the project has a possible future with the time being put into it that its getting.

either way, thats all.

Brandon,

Please make sure that you look at it the same way that we as videographers do when there's ads posted on places like craigslist, for "Come help us shoot our pilot! Show up with your gear and lights and we'll work for about 8 hours and you get credit and a copy and some nachoes!"

As videographers we don't like gigs like that because A) Who knows about money, most likely there isn't any, and when there's no money, then in the end it winds up that B) the project wasn't worth the time or effort because there's nothing in the final product worth showing to anyone so C) you get jaded and bitter thinking about how much money you've invested in your career to be working on no-name gigs for no-name people that will take you nowhere.

I'm not saying that's the case here, but it holds true for graphic designers as well as videographers or anyone else in a creative industry - the time they spend sitting staring at the machine trying to pull together ideas out of thin air, winds up being time spent for no gain if there's no money and the project winds up going nowhere. (A Side note: I think this is even prevalent among filmmakers who are looking for scripts, saying 'just come up with an idea and then give it to me! just come up with a script and we'll go!' I talk with a few people on the board who msg me with things like "I just can't seem to figure out how to make this plot point happen without it being cliche!" and I reply, "That's writing." He replies with, "But I've been thinking about it for weeks and nothing works!" and I say "That's writing!" and so forth, but this is really a topic for its own discussion)

To be fair, I have worked free gigs on craigslist. I ended up regretting most of them, but I'll tell you honestly, the thing that's always pulled me in on a free project is presentation. I worked a three day shoot over December (where all my audio gear got stolen so it wound up not being worth it for sure, but had that not happened it would have been worth it) because, when I read the ad, it was so well put together, so precise and so well presented that I felt that the person asking for help was clearly a professional who is serious about their work. She ended up not being terribly creative herself, but put together a solid team of professionals by knowing how to market herself and her idea.

Anyways, my point is that we're all in similar industries, and that has to be kept in mind. If you want a great logo, you're looking for a professional designer, and someone who's professional is not going to donate time unless it looks like something worthwhile is going to come out of it - someone else here said they work on projects for either A) the money or B) the script, but either way it had better be good.

I uh... didn't mean to swindle anyone, and most people on here KNOW that I produce pretty good quality stuff.
