Need Some Help

First off I have Final Cut Express 4.

I need to know exactly how to cut down whites in a particular shot, without effecting the rest of the color. I have a Speaker who wore a really bright white and I want to lower that white.

I'm still really new to this, so is there anyway I can put a blanket or mask around the part I need to lower, without lowering the entire color shot?

I've been messing with the tools, but can't get what I need, without losing the other colors.

Can someone on here give me a play by play type, so i can actually figure it out.

If so that would be awesome, thanks.

You can start with the two-way color corrector filter. Apply it to the clip and then use the "Whites" slider to reduce the level of brightness. You might not be able to do much if the footage is overexposed though. Maybe tone it down a bit, but you won't be able to recover much detail.

You can find more about the color corrector filter in the manual.

That's about what I thought.
the whites she wore were way to bright, so I think
They'll have to get over it.

I knew I was in trouble when I saw what she was wearing.

OH well.

I tried to lower the whites and did but everything else just
became darker, so I'm going with the original color.

Unless anyone else has other suggestions?

Thanks

thanks.

If you posted something we could judge we'd have a better idea of how help.

Bumping NEVER helps... just pisses us off.
