Need Some Help in Color

This is the FCP 6 Suite version of Color and I am using a MacBook Pro...

Also, I am just not comfortable with this interface... could someone tell me how to change the location that this color project is saving too? It is set up to go into "documents" not but I would rather change that to where it is going to my external.
The reason I need to change brings on another question:

I did some color work today and the "color documents" folder is on my internal drive. I meant to change that before I started rendering but it totally slipped my mind. I am watching these files render little by little... it seems to be going much slower now than when color first starting doing the task. Anyway, I am wondering if I am bout to fill up my internal drive... Should I stop rendering? I am about 145 clips in of 200. If I stop, will I lose the 145 that have finished and would I have to start over?
thanks

As far as the interface goes, it's a bit alien compared to what most Mac people are used to. Suggest you use lynda.com videos to get a sense about what's going on. The first few tutorials are free and are a pretty good introduction. And you can always get a one month subscription for $25 to access the rest PLUS then you also have full access to an insane amount of training on just about anything you'd want. IMO, one of the best $25 investments you can make.

When color starts you have a number of tabs at the top choose "Setup" which is the first tab top left.

You wil then see tabs at the bottom of the middle right section of the interface - choose User Prefs.

At the top of the User Prefs page you can set

Default Project Dir
Default Media Dir
Default Render Dir

Set these to your fastest non OS drive.

Has it finished the render you had going yet?

jrod81 - if you know after effects - use it instead of color. Pretty controversial statement I know but I say this because ...
1- Color GUI is designed for two monitors. Even on a larger iMac screen it's difficult to place the eyedropper accurately for HSL keys - on a macbook screen it's going to be an exercise of frustration
2- you can't judge color accurately anyway on a mac book pro screen unless you have PCIe to MXO2 for HDMI out to a TV
3- color is going to give you an unwanted gamma shift which you will need to compensate for with your workflow (just try and compare a before/after with no cc)
4- any node tree work you can approximate in AE and trackers have an easier UI in AE

The only thing color will give you on a macbook is the ease of use for comparing grades across a vast number of clips - ie large scale project.
If you are on a macbook I'm assuming this isn't a large scale project.

thanks for all the help... It finished rendering without filling up my HD so that is good I suppose. I do have another question (and this very well may be my last meeting with Color cause at this point, I am just not a fan):

Instead of only rendering the part of the files that I use in my FCP timeline, it is rendering the entire clip in its entire length (as in the length that it was originally shot). It is not doing it to all the files, and honestly as long as it doesn't hurt anything in FCP I guess its not a big deal, but man it is making for more work than needed and taking longer than needed.

watching a second batch of clips rendering as i type... currently its on number 71 of 112... i won't do anything until i hear from you guys but is there a way to take out clips 76-90 without it messing up 1-75 that are done. i think that i can hit ESC and then select and "remove selected" clips 76-90 and then hit "start render" again and be fine but I am so nervous about losing all this and having to start over...
