Need some computer/tech/HDD help

I recently switched to Mac from PC.

Is it possible to transfer data from a NTSF formatted SATA drive to an IDE Mac formatted drive? These harddrives will be hooked up to my Mac.

I know you can't write on NTSF drive's from a Mac, only read. But you can transfer from the drive onto the computer (just not the other way around).

Just wondering if I should buy this IDE Firewire drive for my Mac.

Thanks for any help

The easiest way would be to get an external enclosure for the PC drive, plug it in to your Mac and copy all the data over to a new drive. Then you reformat the PC drive and have a nifty external drive. You might be able to just drop it into a free bay if you're using a Mac Pro, but I can't really speak to that as I have a MBP.

If you still have your PC, you can install MacDrive and read HFS+ (Mac format) HD's in Windows and copy as you please. That way you can avoid drive problems on the Mac side.

It's always a good idea to have a real Mac and a PC just in case. Neither Parallels or Boot Camp are the holy grail they are reported to be.
