Need some composition advice (interacting with chroma)

Going to build a "fantasy" door (yes, a door) and it's too complex/expensive to build it 1:1 scale. Now... will a greenscreen comp look good? I'm thinking, the actor closes a normal green door/flat surface completely chroma, then secondly i'll shoot the miniatyre and match the movement of the actor closing the door.

Will this look like crap? Thinking it might be hard not to create a lot of shadows... and that it will just look dumb in the end.

Most weird should be the handle / grip, hmmmmmm ............. I'll make a door handle 1:1 scale that the actor grabs & pulls? Must be best ...... otherwise one mustchroma fingers and everything on a green handle ... hurrr!

Should I put a trackpoint next to the handle, then? One of those black / red dots ... at worst, perhaps the handle "floats" on the door ...

Hmm, matching lighting/shadows will be the hardest bit - I do worry that it will be more work than it's worth. You've considered a fake polystyrene foam door stuck to a real door underneath?

Regardless, I'd definitely try for a real door knob/handle.
