i love panasonic all the way.., even in this little gem, their lowest model, they still give the option for total manual control with the mini joystick!

Looks like that Lars Von Trier mojo whammied you bigtime! But I know what you're saying, some times it's just fun to go out and see what you can squeeze out of the little guys.
I have this eight year old Optura, the first one they made. Canon foolishly (or not so foolishly?) loaded it up with all these "Pro" features then quickly dropped them on the next model as it was cutting into sales of their higher end camcorders.
True progressive scan (30p), 16:9, 14x optical zoom and LANC control on a 1CCD, 8 year old camera.
Hilarious.
:cheesy:

Canon = Pwned

EDIT: Also I have a Canon-ZR-60, which is horrifically difficult to accurately color correct, and I would rather have a five finger prostate examination rather than use the ****ing thing again with its bullshit auto exposure, and other forced "consumer" features.

Also I think canon charges way too much for their ****. And I do mean ****

PANA-MAN,, exactly. i wanna see what could be done (i've never owned a video cam) with a cheapo nv-gs25 (did i mentioned it has total manual control, no forced consumer ****!) before i go 3x1/3ccd 24p it will surely make me apreciate, surely... and i dont wanna take out too much from my savings, maybe i might just reward myself with a hvx...., woahhhh,,, jehhrih jehhrih jehhrih..

you guys are a bunch a loughfter. :)

Funny enough this old bugger Optura has manual exposure and focus as well. You can actually rack focus to a certain degree with the thing!
And jeez, Monte, I love my DVX too, but, damn, that some serious hatin' on the Canon. Did you own a bum XL1 or GL1 in the past?
My friend has an XL1 which I don't rather like. The lens is not too good and forget about trying to use autofocus. I didn't think a camera could actually have an epileptic seizure.
But my XL2 seems light years away from that camera or my GL1 (now sold) and actually owning one and going out and using it I'm rather happy with its performance.
Now, if I could just afford that Arriflex 235 and some film to put in it, I'd really be rolling!

It's not that their products are bad, I'm just tired of their bullshit. Crippling their products, when it would be easier just to leave in features, their HORRID customer service, and just the price-gouging. It needs to stop. Eventually Canon will realize, and if they don't they will go out of business.

Just look at how fast the XL2's price has dropped. People are catching on to their bullshit.

Btw - I do think the XL2 is a nice camera. FYI

I just bought the Panasonic PV-GS65 3CCD consumer camcorder....It is pretty nice for a low-cost consumer camera. I'm taking it tomorrow when I head to Disneyland.

Monte. I couldn't have said it better. I like my XL2 but for the 2 times I did call their customer service I got a serious dolt on the other end who had absolutely no idea what I was talking about and during the course of the conversation ended up solving my own problem before he could.
These "techs" know little to nothing about the cameras their company sells.
The other problem I had was ultimately solved by speaking with Randy over at EVS in Glendale.
Sad, Canon. Truly, sad...

I have - still have - a Canon Ultura -- must be 6-8 years old; I got it in Ebay in 2000.
Was all I could afford. Got it because of the canon lens, and, at the time at least, Canon's were only camera in this price range that had optical image stabilaiztaion as opposed to digital, and it has a cool little joystick focus feature where with a thumb controller you can drag a little box over the area that you want to be in focus -- to rack focus for example, and you could do most things manual too.

Here's a clip with that cam:

I'm on a disk quota warning.

But I love my DVX. Love it love it love it.

Off-camera announcer voice: Larry R. - You just bought the Panasonic PV-GS65 3CCD consumer camcorder... what will you do next?

Larry R.: I'm going to Disneyland! :)

I liked the cat video. I was expecting to see some action in there. We had two cats a while back and they fought each other for several years evreytime they got near eachother.
Good choice of music.

Thanks. It's more of a supsense film than an action film.
lol
They just sort of stared each other down for a week. The black cat is extremely social and needs to be pet a sometimes annoying amount. But the orange cat hides under the bed when there's company, and can't be kenneled when we're away because she bites the staff. But at home she's a kitten. They get a long / take naps together with the occsional hiss and sibling like brawl.
