Need Serious Help

I have a 30 minute video I did for a client. It is currently in FCP and I need to export it so it can fit on a DVD. He wants it in AVI format, but I've tried that twice, the first time it came out too large of a file (5 gigs) the second time it came out sucky and about 600mbs.

This is for TV.

Do you guys know of a good format to export a 30 minute video, and what should I use? Quicktime, or Compressor?

Any info will help!

thanks,

James

Split the file up and burn on 2 DVDs.

Or, keep playing with the settings until it's lower than 4.7GB (DVD-5).

Or, if you can burn dual layer disks, you can get those and burn up to 8.54GB (DVD-9).

Or, if they accept tape, like DV, HDV, etc. you could deliver it on tape and have them convert it.

Also, if this is your first time delivering for TV, make sure you ask for the station's delivery specs. For example, you might need to keep your audio below -12dBFS, have the proper head and tail, etc.

Also, if they are digital, they might accept directly in MPEG2 (program stream). That's how I deliver spots to the local station I work with.
