Need Rep company suggestions to sell finished one hour cable doc

I have a finished one hour documentary that I need to have represented and sold to a cable network. It is finished in the sense that while we have a master, we won't encode deliverables until we know what the chosen network requires.

Would anyone care to suggest any companies or give any type of advice that we can use to start this process? It would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I am in a similar situation so I don't know if I can help. But the question that pops into my head is this: do you need a rep? Or could you go to the networks directly?

The reason that I think a rep is needed is that it is very difficult if not impossible to speak to anyone at a cable network. They try to protect themselves from the probably hundreds of people who are trying to sell them a film project.

The reps have contacts I assume, at the networks and they can streamline the process. Beyond that, I've not done this before so I'm trying to find someone who has so that I can pick up a few tips. I expect our project to find interest from a network, but I really want someone on my side in the bargaining process. So, I'll keep looking.

I am sure that that is true - but my concern is that there are also hundreds of people trying to get a rep!!!
