Need portable wireless receiver (currently have a Shure SC4)

Like I said, I currently have an old wireless audio system that I haven't really used much for a few years.

It has pretty decent microphones. A Shure 183 lav, Shure 93 lav, and SM58 handheld.

The receiver is an SC4, which has to be plugged into a wall. This is the main reason I don't really use this system. I don't often shoot things that I know will have power for a receiver like this. So I've always stuck to a boom mic into camera or to external recorder.

Basically, what I'm looking for is a portable receiver that I can use on my rig. I know almost nothing about wireless systems, their frequency ranges, what makes transmitters compatible with receivers, etc.

Here is a PDF about my system: http://media.musicalplanet.com/pdf/SHU044.PDF

Any help?

You *have* to talk to Shure and ask them what portable receiver they do will be compatible with your transmitters.

You can't mix components from different manufacturers due to non-compatible noise reduction systems and different pilot-tone squelch arrangements.

So - talk to Shure and they will give you the answer.

Shure has traditionally not made portable receivers, so I doubt that you're going to find anything that will work with your existing transmitters. An SC system is old enough that you're probably due for an upgrade anyway. :)

To duplicate your setup with both body pack and handheld transmitters, you're going to want to look at something like the Sennheiser ew100ENGG3 system and then add an appropriate handheld mic.
