Need Notebook for Vegas-suggestions?

OK, I'm in the market for a $1200 notebook to casually edit DV with.
I've been reading reviews here and elsewhere, and I'm starting to get confused.

I like what I hear about HP's (thanks to David J. and Briceman), but they're just out of range for what I want right now.

Anyway, does anyone here have any experience with Toshiba notebooks?
I found a new model (a105-s4004) for $1099 ($150 less than msrp).
-duo core T2300
-1gb ram (533mHz)
-100gb hdd (5400 SATA)
-intel950 8-128mb shared memory
-dl- dvd, cd burner
- sound- realtek audio
-XP media center

So, my issues with this are the operating system (media center), the slow hard drive, and the sound card.

Is this a good deal on a dual-core notebook that will handle Vegas, or am I heading for trouble with this one.

Thanks, Chris

The Toshibas I've looked at which are comparable to the HPs usually run a couple hundred dollars more.

What's the screen size on this? I can't even begin to say how much of a difference it makes. Having a 17" screen with 1680x1050 resolution was my #1 criterion.

I don't think XP Media Center will give you a problem, and if the throughput on the HDD is good enough, the revolution speed isn't as important -- and at 5400 RPM, the problem would be more with capturing, anyway -- editing should be fine.

I don't think the sound card will be a problem, either.
