Need new Lav wireless, questions

I need to upgrade this pathetic Azden system I've had forever.
I've been looking at the Countryman EMW, the socalled "Classic" lav. I like that, the Classic lav. Anyhow, I noticed it's got a odd rectangular shape. I suppose that's good for under clothing but I want to get away from that. A visible Lav is what I want. So, is the rectangular "Classic" EMW reasonable attractive? A nice clean looking little black lav that smiles at the camera.

why does it matter what shape is the mic , if you use over clothes , look for flat version .
the only thing you will need is other foam then that which comes with microphone if you use outside , the original not really fits the mic .

I know, it's a weird question, but what a mic looks like on camera isn't something that gets talked about. And I think it matters. There's a mic that's popular now, it's a weird clear tube that wraps around your face and nestles against the corner of your mouth. Yuck! Looks like a drainage tube for someone that just got treated for traumatic head injury.

sorry pal , you really dont know what are you talking bout .
the mic you talk about ,head worn use in places where you have to much ambiance nose , and come to give you better sn ratio .
you cant do the same job with lavaliere which placed over your tee shirt .
2 completly different things .
about lavalieres them self , usual normal people have more hen 1 color to place it over not to catch the iey , and except Sony 50 which looks like a bug all the others look the same for the normal audience .
you can use super small capsules as b-6 or mke-2 gold which you can place behind the buttons .
for head worn mic, look for e-6 from countryman as the smallest exist .

I appreciate the attention to the look of the lav and I think Oleg may be misunderstanding you. To be honest, however, I may be unsure of what you're asking as well. If you are asking if a mic is attractive then only you can answer that. If you're asking if the Countryman EMW is a good mic then the answer is a qualified yes. Countryman are a respected and widely used manufacturer but sonically and practically, what mic is best depends on the situation/s you expect to use it in.

Again, if you're going for just looks it's all up to you. Check out Countryman, DPA and Sanken websites (all good makers) and browse images. Alterations to the mic to adapt to your input device may be necessary.

The "classic" Tram look is what most people think of when talking about a visable lav. By the time you cover the head up with foam they all start to look quite similar on camera. What really makes it presentable or not is now neat your cabling is (at least what you can see on camera).

Don't know if that answers your question but there u go.

Cheers

What's most important to me is how it sounds. Second to that is the look. It's my contention that the whole reason for lavs is to NOT see them, or make them as unobtusive as possible. Might as well go back to the old mics from the 1970's worn around the neck on a chain. heh heh.

I have used the Sonys, Lectrosonics, and Tram. I love the range and tone of the Tram. Just my nickle's worth

Thanks, yeah, that's exactly the answer I was looking for.
