Need motorized dolly

[RieniO]

Hi Guys,

I need a motorized dolly for indoor shooting without any tracks because the camera is supposed to roll around a subject and looking down so the floor will be visible, that is why I can't use a track.

I found info about the CamTrac but it is not available for immediate shipping and it isn't exactly cheap either. This is the website: http://www.thecamtrac.com/

I am considering ordering it though but I would like to check first if there are any cheaper alternatives available, preferably in Europe, to avoid importing duties.

What I am looking for is something with big wheels, the option to put a tripod on it, motorized with variable speeds and adjustable front wheels so I can either make it drive in straight lines or circles. If someone is selling something like that but used I would be interested as well.

All info and suggestions very welcome!

Thanks,

Rieni Otten

You may consider a Steadicam Operator

Motion Impossible has such a device, but theirs is probably more expensive than the Camtrac. I'm just getting started ordering parts to fabricate a motorized dolly for exactly the same reason as you. I hope to have one that will have motorized mini-crane capabilities as well.

Thanks Paul. Yes... the CamTrac costs $3000... the Mantis costs a lot more than that and it's remotely controlled which we don't need for now. But it sure looks like an awesome bit of gear!
