Need Lens Suggestions & Advice

I am looking to do a short in February with the HVX, and am looking for advice on the lens.

The last time I worked with the HVX, we used a lens adapter and 35 mm lens kit. It worked great but was expensive. This project I am working on now doesn't have the same amount of funding behind it and we can't afford that solution. So I'm looking for alternatives to renting an adapter and lens kit.

What has worked for you before and what would you recommend in this situation? Figure the budget for the camera part of the production is a little less than $1,000.

there really arent any other options...

you can use those wide/tele screw on converters but they wont give you the depth of field or creative latitude that you get with a 35mm adapter+35mm lenses. 35mm adapters (and associated lenses) have a wide price range. the adapters themselves range from $10k to about a grand. and its just a wide a range for lenses.

youre not gonna get ANYTHING for a grand all in. hell, those screw on converters are about a grand in themselves...

I'm not looking to achieve the same results as I would with the 35mm adapter, it's obviously not possible.

I guess my real question is where the money would be best spent given what I have to work with. I was looking at the century 1.6x tele converter, but wanted advice.

The project is an action film, probably going to be doing a lot of wide angle work.

Even though Century claims the tele converter optics are clean, you really have to watch the edges. Each unit is different so I would suggest before buying, bring your camera along and test each converter on a quality monitor.

Adapters are getting cheaper and cheaper... unless you wanna rent a P&S Technik.

Century adapters are outrageous though! I mean they aren't cheap.

If you have the cash, check out 16x9 inc.'s EX wide angle lenses for the HVX. There is also the Red Eye lens... which is super thin!
