need help

Thanks for opening and reading. I am in desperate need of help I have a 3.15 hour movie I need on 1 DVD. This may be impossible. Its possible for me to do 2 but that could be hard too. Can someone give me there export settings for fcp for a movie like this I will be using final cut pro 5.1 and DVD studio pro. Thanks alot

I think it would be easy to put 3 1/2 on a data DVD, but I am not sure of an actual DVD disc burn. You could save it as 1/2 resolution or something in a quicktime file, and then you could open and play it on a regular computer. Hope someone chimes in for the help that you need.

Thanks guys but I still havnt gotten the answer I need. I will be more specific I am working with an imac intel 2 before the new i mac. The first intel imac 20inch. Im not sure if its single or double layer dvd. But it is essensial that it can be played on dvd players. It would be great if someone could walk me through there personal exporting steps. Thanks alot for the responses I have already got but I need more detail. Thanks

Problem is...

If you really want to make one that looks good, you'll need a dual layer dvd and dual layer dvd burner.

Else -- 2.30 is MAX and it will look like junk.

Look under your APPLE menu far left... About this Mac... then Hardware DISK BURNING... does it say DL?

no... same side...

Actually what you see when you get a 'hollywood' dvd... you know that little pause at 1 hour and a few minutes?

That's the layer switch.

When authoring it in DVDSP remember to put in our break point (where you switch layers). Also, I believe the first layer needs to be longer-greater file size-than the second layer, otherwise DVDSP throws a hissy fit. If you're not sure where this is, its fairly straight forward. Just add in a chapter marker somewhere, then click on the marker and you'll see its list of settings show up. Part of those settings will allow you to check it as a normal chapter or a break point. Good luck.

cheers.
