Need help with this scene

Question,
How do you set up a scene where you want to create the illusion that is cold out. I want the actors breath to appear when they speak. I will be doing this in august which is bad because it is usually hot. Can someone help.
Thanks.

I LOVE THIS BOARD. ;)

Re: Need help with this scene

This was discussed a while ago, search the archives. Lots of talk about fake/composited CGI breath. The cheap no-budget way to do it is to have them puff on a cigarette before speaking.

THANKS BARRY, I'LL SEARCH THE ARCHIVES FOR THE INFORMATION. IF YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW WHERE THIS WAS DISCUSSED, I WOULD APPRECIATE A LINK. THANKS AGAIN

I'm sure if you do a google search for After Effects tutorials you should find something like that. Actually, I remember that every time I was looking for an after effects tutorial, I always ran into this specific tutorial which had to deal with adding winter breath in post. It looked pretty good but I cant remember where in particular I found it. If you cant do that then I like the idea of cigarettes. You could just have them take a puff, say a line, take a puff, say a line and then cut it together in post.

puff on a cig? There has to be a better way. I mean if the actor likes smoking...then you have no problem. But if the actor isn't to thrilled about smoking...then you have a problem.
