Need help with the sound editing/design for this scene

So I'm working on a short movie that I wrote, directed, and am now editing. The movie is pretty much edited scene and cut-wise, but now I'm working full on with the audio now. I have below a one minute dialogue scene and need some help trying to edit the sound for it. I'm gonna be having my composer start scoring in the next couple days so in the end, there will be a slight cue here but it's gonna be much like how it is now.

I recognize watching it that the sound subtley (or not so subtley) changes between different cuts and doesn't have much ambient sound. It's just the main dialogue so far with drops at different points. I wanna make this scene sound clean and have ambience and the feeling of what it'd sound like being in there, but I'm new to sound editing.

The 10 minute movie has a lot of scenes in the same room but I'm only putting this scene here as a microcosm. Let me know what I can do to improve it.

This isn't much help now, but a big problem is your actors are putting wine classes down on the table during a line, and you may not be able to remove that sound. In the future while directing this..put the glass down on the table during a pause in the delivery, or have felt pad underneath. A distracting shadow present....did you shoot 3 camera?
Audio not bad, just needs evened out....perhaps some compression and gate....eq.... fades...ambient room underneath.

For the sound of the wine glasses being put down, I did dub in some sounds of a wine glass being put down and put it in for a few moments. I don't know if they were the same ones you noticed, but if they are then it's just a matter of moving them around.

It was a one camera shoot, not 3. A friend also mentioned it on the guy with the white shirt but not sure what I can do for that due to the positioning.

I did record ambient noise from the location we shot in but was on a different day and it didn't seem to match the sound from the dialogue audio, so it was uneven. How do I do compression, gate, and EQ? My DP mentioned doing EQ on it but not how to do it. I'm an audio noob, I know

Room Tone should be recorded on set when you do the dialauge originally. A number of things contribute to the sound of the ambience, including the number of people in the room and what they are wearing, the lights and other equipment in the room, etc. So have everyone pause, be quiet, and sit tight for at least 60 seconds before you strike the setup to record the room tone.

All of that won't help you once you're already in post, obviously, but I've had good luck grabbing a few seconds of ambience here and there from random clips from the day if I forgot to record room tone.
