Need help with shooting low budget blue screen.

I am helping out with a small budget shoot.

I am going to be shooting a blue screen and I would like to use fluorescent lights , probably Kino Flo, for the blue screen. I am not sure how much light I need to rent...

I am thinking four or six 48”x 4 Tube Bank for the blue screen? would that be enough?

To light the actor I was thinking to use an Arri kit I have ( one 150W, 1 300W and one 650+Chimera (all arri's are fresnel lights)

We will be shooting just one person (with an HVX). I am thinking that a 12x12 chroma key screen should be enough...

If any of you have a Kino flo kit you would like to rent please let me know. Also if any of you know of a small and cheap sound stage we can rent, that would be great.

Please let me know what you think.

Cheers.

I always like to use a back light with chroma key. It will make them pop more so you dont have to pull your hair out in the edit room.

Yes, I am planning to use a back light to separate the subject from blue screen. I should have mentioned, I actually have a lot of experience with blue screens, but not low budget and not (obviously) without a DP. The result will be used on a website, not for broadcast.

1 additional note I would not mix flouresent and tungstun. Bad idea for chroma key.

Yes, my thinking as well... which is why I mentioned it.

Even if they're the same color temperature?

I've been on shoots as an actor for major (relatively high budget) productions where about 8 banks of Kinos were used to light the green screen (a whole wall actually) and Arri Fresnels (4 2Ks and 2 1ks) were used to light the actor (my character was off-screen, btw).

Worked fine for them...

???

Actually I just talked to a DP friend of mine and apparently this is not the case, you don't even need jells as Kino flo can be rented with Tungsten tubes or to be precise fluorescent light with the same temp. as tungsten ... I guess that solves my problem right there...

Thank you all for the replies...
