Need help with lav mic windjammer

I've always used the microcat on my lav's in heavier winds.
Always worked well. Does muffle the sound a bit (equal to that if you had the mic under a couple layers of clothes)
but at that point its more important to get the wind noise down.

Anything you put over a mic will affect the sound. The little fuzzies aren't too bad. As long as you can hear what they are saying you're good. You may just want to try putting it under a shirt if they want the mic hidden. The fuzzies like Rippie suggested work better, but they look odd. The new Rode Lav comes with a cool fuzzy at no extra charge.

Redhead Windscreens might do the trick. I used one on an H4n biking into the wind except, so little wind noise was captured I didn't use the sounds!

There was also a thread about some other copy-cat screens/site that were even less expensive but I can't remember what they were called - had the word "head" in their name too but the Redhead owner is a real stand-up guy and worth giving business to. (not affiliated, just liked the products and communication.)

Rycote Undercovers or Overcovers are great - but for really windy conditions use a Rycote Furry (foam windshield with a mini Windjammer.

I have to say that though I demoed undercovers in my lav shootout video, they seemed quite susceptible to clothes rustle when I tried them. I had them in my bag and never used them, then I wanted to show some tips, and followed the directions - put the tape on my t-shirt, stuck the mic to the tape, then stuck the felt over both. I laid my button-up shirt (cotton) over the undercover and it seemed like there was no dampening of the clothes sound, in fact I felt it amplified it. Perhaps I did something wrong? I find my vampire clip (for the COS11D) protects against sound better.

Am I expecting too much?
