Need help with Hum and Buzz...

I did some video work for a client where I connected into a banquet hall's audio system. Unfortunately the tech guys at this galleria dont listen and due to their lack of proper audio lines i have loads of hum/buzz in my line.

Just to give an idea, i asked for one xlr and one mini feed to each of my cameras. Neither were prepared properly and the mini connection was not even available, so after adapters and what not, i at least got a feed. The hum wasnt present during recording, but it is now after playback. So my question is:

What plugins are necessary to remove the hum/buzz through vegas. I have noise reduction and vegas 6. What process is best. Ive heard EQs do a great job but how do i neutralize the frequency of the hum/buzz. Noise reduction seems to only give me a "computerized/electronic" sound to my audio. Any tutorial or anything is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

ps. for those in georgia that do videography work, watch out if your doing any work with cobb galleria. Their "technicians" are arrogant, rude, and clearly unprofessional. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to save any fellow videographers the headache.

First, check & make sure it's not dramatized by your speakers (i.e. do you hear it if playing back through your camera's tiny speakers as well. True, the tiny speaker shouldn't be judged for sound quality, but I find that sometimes my speakers dramatize the hum/buzz (mine aren't pro sheilded speakers).

Otherwise, yes, EQ does a good job. In my experience, it comes from toning down the high end of the mhz, turning up a little more of the low end ... if that makes sense. Just play with it. Vegas 6 already has them built into the audio timeline, you just have to play with them to taste.

I don't know about Vegas, I edit with Premiere and have Adobe Audition. A constant buzz is fairly easy to eliminate with Audition by using the noise reduction filters.

You may want to pick up a couple IL-19's if you do much recording in hotel/convention space using house sound patches.
