Need help with 3ds Max AVI alpha clip in Vegas

Hi
I exported an AVI with an alpha channel from 3DS Max. It gives me 2 files. One avi file if just the alpha (black and white), and then an AVI of the animation. That AVI also has alpha information.

It is an animation of a moving object. I want to lay that over a background.
I tried a few different things, but was not happy with the results. I think I went to add effects, and added a create alpha, but it gave me a little black outline around my object.
So I need your advise on what would be the best way to do this.

I've got animations from several different 3D users and find that I get better results if they export it as a series of stills (TGA, PNG or PSD all have the alpha channel).
I get Vegas to import them as an image sequence which gets dropped on the timeline.

What you will probably have to do is drop one on the timeline (put something/anything under it so that you can see the result), right-click it and select Properties, switch to the Media tab and choose one of the options in the Alpha Channel drop down box.
Straight (unmatted) works for TGA for me.
Once you find the right one to use, click the icon that looks like a floppy disc next to the word Stream.
This saves the settings for future use so that you won;t have to do this for that file format.
