Need help w/simple effect: flying through space

I don't have starfield on mine,

the problem I'm having with particle world is, I don't know how to make the particles look like little filled balls that stay in place so that the camera can go through them.

Just guessing at what you're getting at, but I would:

A) Create a solid, apply particle world, and turn the layer 3d.
B) Key frame the birth rate to be insanely high for 1-2 frames, then turn it down to zero. This should spit out enough stars for your sky/universe whatever. Produce more or less particles as needed.
C) Turn the producer Radius up on all axis so you get a nice evenly distributed field.
D) After the zero frame you'll want to have your longevity to be as long as your project so the stars don't die, and turn all the physics to zero so the particles don't move.
E) Create a new camera and fly through your star field.

Hope that helps!

1) Trapcode particular
2) Maya or other 3D program with particles (Cinema 4D)
3) Stock Footage
4) Record your screensaver
