Hey everyone, this is my first post on DVXuser.com. I've been very interested in purchasing a DVX100B (currently own DVC30) as my primary camera. To help defray the cost, I am thinking about renting my camera to people in at my school and maybe others in the New Orleans area. I am looking for advice on insurance and other issuse that may arise. Comments much aperciated.

Well, if it is a high school you want to make sure that the students who rent from you sign a contract. There's no such thing as "friendship" when they break your camera and refuse to pay, just because you're not an adult or older. Make sure they understand the consequences, and yes I would advise getting insurance. I don't live in New Orleans, so I'm not sure what insurance it would go under, but I don't think it can be home owners insurance if you are renting it out.

Rent yourself out as DP. Don't let students "learn while they burn" using your camera as their Guinea Pig. Good luck enforcing a contract with a minor.

Insurance = :thumbsup:

Sorry, wanted to clear things, up. I am a college student at the University of New Orleans studying film. I live in an apt and need to get renters insurance, but didn't know if i could get a all-inclusive floater to cover the cost of renting a camera out. Sorry for the confusion.
