hello guys someone please help me, I ordered a bogen 503 head for my hvx and ..yeah you guess it it does not fit!!! the sliding plate comes with a much bigger screw and the hole on the hvx is a 1/4" thread, I need a solution fast I have gig shoot on saturday, what is a fast fix, where can I find a replacement screw fast

thanks guys

goto a REAL hardware store that sells individual screws(not home depot) and look at the 1/4" screws, bring your camera/stix and make sure you use a washer or have a screw head that doesn't slide through or hit the head..
OR
Call ANY local rental house and get one from them..
OR
Call B&H like above or ABLE CINETECH (much better for RUSH and much more PERSONAL, and they have locations on the EAST and WEST coast so you have that 3 hour window)
OR
call a photo store that might carry tripods.
OR
if all FAILS, I can fedex you one.

I don't think you can use a regular scew because the camera mount screws have a non threaded smaller part near the base which allows it to slide into the mounting plate.

the slot in the mounting plate is bigger than the narrow part but smaller than the threaded part which won't fall through the slot. So a regular scre wont slide in I think, it will be too big along the whole shaft since it does not have the narrow ungrooved part.

Aaaaahhhh Freak out. Kidding, remain calm. All you need to get by is a slotted pan head 1/4-20 machine screw available just about anywhere hardware is sold. Or spend $20 bucks and have one overnighted. Good Luck.

Thats the word I was looking for.. MACHINED.. Bro, if you goto a real hardware store they should have it. Or follow the rest of my email..

The 503 looks like a newer version of the 501. On my 501 if you tilt the head all the way forward, and look underneath along the back edge there are two holes for 1/4" and 3/8" screws. Is the 1/4" screw hiding back there?

that's what I'm thinking, most of their stuff I've gotten has both screws attached somewhere to the gear.

I just got a 503 and it came with two screws. If yours did not, something is missing. But it should be easy fix with some of the suggestions above.

thanks guys so much I just had the order placed for second day ups, for some reason they forgot to include the 1/4" in one and they will send me another one for free, gotta love B&H

thanks guys so much

Yeah, the second screw it usually stored on the underside of the stage in holes that are threaded for the two respective screw sizes.
