Need Help! My new anamorphic lens...

Alright. I am admitting right now that I am very new at this, so please don't laugh too much at my question:

I just purchased a used anamorphic lens for my DVX100 (AG-LA7200G). However, I am having a heck of a time getting it on my camera and figured I would humiliate myself and ask you all for help. I can get my wide angle lens on with no problem, but the anamorphic lens doesn't seem to have the same connection ring. The directions say to just put it on then turn right but I have turned and turned. It does tighten a little but doesn't have that same "locked" feeling you get when you put on the wide angle lens.

Can someone help me? What am I doing wrong? Do I need some kind of adaptor? Thanks for your help! ;D

Make sure the screw on the side is adequately tightened before you try attaching the anamorphic. That'll lock the threads in place and make it so you can attach/remove the adapter.

The screw is really only there to adjust the alignment of the lens. Think of the screw as holding the inside threads that screw on to your camera in place when it's tight (because that's what it's doing).

So, to put the anny adapter on:

1) Tighten the adjustment screw adequately.

2) Screw on the lens until it's tight (but not TOO tight!)

3) Loosen the screw to adjust the alignment of the lens, then tighten when the lens is squared.

Yes.. and to remove it you tighten the screw then "un" rotate the whole assembly. I know it kinda ass-backwards.

Dont feel bad, I think all of us that have used the Anamorphic took a few attempts to figure it out.

Awesome! It works now. I had the screw figured out backwards because I had it loose to screw on but now I see it is the other way. It seems it would make more sense if they had those other ring connections, like the other stuff has, but I suppose they figured if we were going to pay $700 or on a lens, they might as well make it different!
