need help finalizing 23.98 footage

Shot on DVX100a in 24p Adv. Edited on FCP 23.98 timebase. I took it to a color correction lab in an uncompressed 23.98 AVI. They said they had to re-add the pulldown to the clip in order to properly display and color correct it on their Da Vinci Suite. They gave me back an uncompressed AVI in 29.97 and said I can just use Cinema Tools and reverse telecine to get it back to 23.98. I've read that reverse telecine ALWAYS adds artifacts and someone said I should just choose the CONFORM button and change it to 23.98. However, when I do this, my 17:11 movie goes to 21:28! I do not find any "added" minutes anywhere yet it is unrendered so I cannot truly tell where the extra space is (it's not at the beg. or the end). I hesitate to render it until I find out if CONFORM is the right thing to do here or should I use reverse telecine??
Someone please help. Spent a lot of time/money on this and want to get it right.
thanks
Jeff

When you capture you footage into FCP, you should have the advanced pulldown funtion turned on. That will give you 23.98 native footage. And why are you using an AVI file? That's like the WORST format to go out of FCP with. Is there a specific reason why you output to that format?

If your timeline is 23.98, and you rendered it, when you output, it will be 23.98. I'm a bit confused by the cc lab, here. Are you SURE you're Seqeunce really is a 23.98 TC base?
