Distribution company wants two DVD copies of our film on DVD with Time Code Burn-in. How would I do this? I have never used TC for anything. Edited on FCP 6 shot with HVX200. Please help me out I have to send these to Florida by tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance.

Nest your sequence.

Open nest in viewer window.

Select Effects> Video Filters> Video> Timecode Generator

In the filters tab you can then define frame rates, position, offsets etc etc etc.

Also Compressor has a filter option for putting timecode onto whatever you're running through it. It could save you a step if you already have a master QT mov exported and don't want to do it again.

It doesn't look as good or give you as much option as what you can do in FCP, but it's there.

I prefer Timecode Reader because it uses the timecode from the camera, which make it easier to identify problem clips in the browser.

Surely if you've compiled an offline or online in a timeline you wouldn't be using any problem clips from the browser?

Also, what if your shooting with a camera that doesn't have timecoded clips? Say a 5D?

I don't see any benefit from using a timecode reader from camera origination especially in the posters circumstances. The donkey work has already been done.

they both have their uses. I use generator more because the timecode burn-in I frequently need must correspond to the timecode in the cut sequence so my clients' legal departments can quickly reference the associated shot log and music cue sheet.

Same deal here, I mostly use the TC generator to reference times to make my client's changes.
