hey everyone,

I have shot a 45min action sports film with the sony PWM-EX1 footage and edited everything in FCP as a 720P HD project.

I want to export this project to DVD for duplication and neeed HEELLLPPP!!

should i just take the 720p project straight into DVD studio pro?
should i put the 720P project into a Standard Definition timeline and downsize it and then send to studio pro???
what would be the way to get the best quality and fit it onto a regular dvd or DL dvd...

and also what would be settings and setup inside studio pro to make this look great??

hope to hear from all you!

thanks

Matt,

DVDSP does a decent job of encoding and is the easiest, but it does not produce as great results as compressor. You can simply export a quicktime and drag it into DVDSP and allow it to encode the material all-in-one.

I have found the best results with the following workflow:

- Export reference quicktime movie with current settings and DVDSP markers if you added them.
- Drop quicktime into compressor, change settings to DVD best quality 90min (or longer if needed).
- Drag .m2v and .ac3 file into the menu window of DVDSP, hold until popup menu appears and drop on create track & make connections.
- Advance Burn from the file menu and create a disc image on your HDD.
- Once tested in DVD player, burn using disc utility.

BTW, can't answer the DL Disc question without knowing how long the material is. DVDSP supports DL discs but I believe only by outputting to DLT tape.
