Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this. Anyways we recently got our wedding videos, and are somewhat unhappy. Anyways i received an edited version and a "raw" version. If i want to edit the video myself is it possible with just the "raw" dvd video? Anything else i require? By "raw" i mean just unedited...do i need the actual computer files for editing? Thanks in advance

The "raw" video should, essentially, be the computer files.

You should be able to copy them to your computer like any other file.

You will need an editing program to work with the video. iMovie on a Mac, Windows Movie Maker or similar on a PC. Or you could buy Adobe Premiere Element 10 for around $79 to $99.

What are you not happy with? Does the video look good? Steady, not "grainy" or noisy, nice color?

What do you want to change?

Good luck!
Michael

Thanks for the quick reply. Ok than i guess i dont have the "raw" files, i have the "raw" dvd, is there anyway to make that into a editable high quality video files that i can edit via edit software?
And im just not happy with the scenes they picked and put together, also a few small other things. The video quality and colour are great. I kind of at the same time want to learn video editing as a hobby, so was hoping i'd be able to do that.

You will need to get a program that converts DVD (MPEG2) to .AVI or .MOV files that are compatible with a video editing program. Instant Handbrake may work if you're on a Mac, there are others that will work on PC, though I'm not familiar with them off the top of my head. Essentially a "DVD Ripper" program.

Thanks for the reply, i dont want the quality to get lower, i'm going to ask if he can send me the computer files via a external HD
