Hey guys, as a new screenwriter, I am of course doing my reserch online, and reading books. I am alittle confused by some info I''ve been reading, can anyone tell me which one of these sources below is correct?

Online source # 1...
Always use a new sugline when ever we change place (Even when moving from INT to EXT. or vice versa)

I see a lot of sluglines like this:

INT/EXT. - HOUSE - DAY (Do *NOT* do this, always put a new slugline)

Online source # 2...
If the intention is to move from INT to EXT, or vice versa in a single uninterrupted shot, this may be noted in the scene heading as:

INT/EXT. - HOUSE - DAY (This is *OKAY* to use)

Pick up a copy of this : The Hollywood Standard: The Complete and Authoritative Guide to Script Format and Style

#2 is wrong, but probably not for the reason you think. It's wrong because, "If the intention is to move from INT to EXT, or vice versa in a single uninterrupted shot", the proper way to slug that would be with CONTINUOUS. e.g.

Code:
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT.

Alice steps through the looking glass into...

EXT. WONDERLAND - CONTINUOUS.

Alice gazes at her surroundings in amazement.

As to your original question, #1 is technically correct, but no one other than the person doing the budget/scheduling and the AD/DP will care. And, if this is a spec, it's much more important that the script read well than be technically correct.

Personally, I use INT./EXT. and EXT./INT.--BTW there's a difference between them--all the time. But because it can potentially be a problem for production, I limit their use to locations that are or could be both. e.g. a (convertible) car, a porch, gazebo, etc. I would find INT./EXT. HOUSE to be rather unusual (unless the house is under construction or something); especially as opposed to, say, INT. HOUSE - DAY followed by EXT. YARD - CONTINUOUS or somesuch.
