My first ever dystopian science fiction idea, dealing with societal collapse and government abuse of powers.
In the future, there will be a major nuclear war, that will cause the downfall of a number of countries. Cities will fall, children and innocent lives will die of disease or illness, and the effects will scar the world in almost every area.
A young government officer, by the name of Jacob Faron, is under cover, searching for potential men and women across what is perhaps the last functioning country, the United States, that may be involved in a terrorist group known as the Promises, which has caused the destruction of numerous countries, and their next target may be the United States. However, it is seen that the government has begun to play with the people's human rights, and are bringing in innocent lives into interrogation camps for questioning and perhaps torture.
While Jacob engages in his job, he soon falls in love with a local city dweller by the name of Gwen Darvey, who doesn't know about his secret occupation.
However, Faron's loyalty to the government is tested once Gwen is accused of being a terrorist by another undercover officer, and sent to an interrogation camp for questioning.
He eventually destroys his laws and ties with the government and attempts to help her escape from the camp, and through his adventure, he learns about his true past, and the horrors of government interrogation.
This eventually leads to political uprisings across the country, for change and reform with the government's actions.
(I want to tie in the fact that he finds out he isn't human, and that he is a clone produced from the government lab, lacking both emotions such as love and happiness. Undercover spies like him also take a drug that sustains their inability to detect emotion. However, he loses his pills one day, and begins experiencing a mental breakdown, but it is a breakdown that forces his brain to bring back sources of emotion, which eventually leads to the love story.
