Need feedback on Bio

Doc Bernard

Indie Arms Member
Okay, I need a bit of feedback on my bio that I need to provide for an interview for BlogTalkRadio. I want this to be well-rounded, humble, and to give credit to those that have helped me. I plan on mentioning many people throughout the 30 min interview. The host is going to base many of his questions off my bio, as is the norm. Needless to mention, but still will, I will be mentioning DVXUser as well, if I can craft it. H e is going to send me a list of questions, based off my bio, and other info.

Anyway the bio:

Steven “Doc” Bernard

As the Chief Armorer and founder of Indie-Arms, Inc., “Doc” brings his enthusiasm and experience to each and every film project he works on. With over 15 years in the entertainment industry, his knowledge and familiarity with all aspects of filmmaking, including his degree in audio engineering and experience as a camera operator, 2nd Unit Director, and Cinematographer make him invaluable asset on set. But his passion is with provisioning productions with weapons and the training of the actors in the use of those weapons. As a SAG and AFTRA-eligible stunt-trained actor, his ability to interact with the cast and provide the necessary training for them to realistically portray their roles pertaining to weapons has been enjoyed by many Independent and student films.

Most recently, “Doc” filled the role of Producer/Armorer (as well as Stunt Actor) on the ambitious FPS/UCLA production, “Dilated”, which involved 150 cast members, 50 crew members, filming in the LA River Basin, an abandoned hospital morgue, and a park in Riverside, CA, courtesy of Councilman Mike Gardner (Riverside City Council). Mr. Bernard’s responsibilities on this film included arranging for Humvees and other military vehicles, the military equipment, finding a trained stunt driver and cast for the final scene, training the cast for their roles as a highly proficient team of special operation mercenaries, and being the on-set armorer.

In the past, Steven has worked on numerous other Independent Film projects, including several that have won awards or have been finalists in major film festivals. One such film was “Gig”, another FPS/UCLA project that was entered into the CampusMovieFest competition. This particular project won “Best Drama” at the 2009 UCLA CampusMovieFest, and was entered as a finalist at the CampusMovieFest International Grand Finale and was screened at Paramount Studios. Another fairly recent project was “SHIMLU” (Red Horizon Films), which was a finalist in the 2009 Doorpost Film Competition. Here, “Doc” provided the production with a cast of trained actors, complete with weapons and uniforms, and coordinated/performed several stunt scenes for the project. His other projects include many “student”/Independent films, where he has been asked to advise on scripts/dialog, be a technical advisor on set, help dress scenes, and various other “jobs” that pertain to his knowledge. Outside of weapons work, he has helped dress the set on the CBS show “Three Rivers” as well as fill in as a technical extra (Surgical Resident and ER Nurse) on the show. His experiences as a US Navy Corpsman and a Paramedic allowed him to be a functional yet “behind the scenes” part of the show.

Steve attributes his success to everyone he has come into contact with, including the talented highly members of DVXUser.com and those that have assisted him in his journey.

don't be humble. Bios and resumes are the place where you need to blow your own horn, because no one else will, just don't lie. you can be humble in person.
