simple question, I want to see what final cut pro is all about my friend was wanting to sell me his I-mac G3/17gb and I was wanting to know is that's enough space to run Final cut pro and do videos let me know I really don't have a clue I also may want to run after effects through there let me know what I'll need.

I'm glad you told me he was selling it for 50 dollars I was getting happy thinking I finally get to see what's the big fuss about final cut pro. how much memory do I need to run FCP and what's the cheapest way to get a mac.

17gb? is that the Hard Drive? wuao. how much?

I believe even a mac mini will be better. also there are a lot of fast cheap PCs. I don't know. people will need a lot of more information to be able to help you.

Good luck

That's really scraping the bottom as far as final cut goes. I used to run final cut when it first came out on a g3 266, so technically it can be done, but the whole Final Cut 6 Studio is more than 17GB worth of stuff. I managed to get Final Cut 6 running on my wife's 600 mhz Ibook G3, and it cuts DV okay. If his system is anything less than 500mhz and less than 512m of RAM and doesn't have firewire ports I wouldn't bother.

I have a pc, I'm using on there Sony vegas 8 pro, and I just bought Adobe Production Premium Just need more memory to install it, I also Have a Panasonic dvx100a I have a gospel concert to shoot getting 100 an hour for 4 hrs So I was going to buy an external memory for the software but everybody I talk to is using final cut pro So I really have to teach myself How to use Sony vegas 8 pro. So I was thinking when I make that little money sat I was going to buy that 50 dollar mac and get final cut pro and try it out. That's all I would really love to see what final cut pro really can do.
