Need faster way to make Timecode DVD's for client

We have a project where we have a lot of footage that we need to get to the client for reference. Typically I just add the Timecode Reader (not generator) filter in FCP, render (yes a long time) and then compress and burn a dvd. Because of the amount of footage we have for this, one dvd is taking nearly a full work day to make after the render, export, compress burn process. I know Compressor has the time-code generator filter but I need a time code "reader". Is there a faster way of doing this? I'll be here all weekend otherwise lol

The TC filter in Compressor will display whatever the TC on the clip is. Is that not what you want?

Another option, which I've actually found to be faster than using the TC filter in Compressor, is to apply the TC reader filter in FCP then use the Send To -> Compressor feature in FCP to have Compressor make whatever files I need.

Interesting on your 2nd point adkimery. I'll try that. As to your first point, the TC filter in Compressor is generating a new 'hour 1' based time code as in 01:00:00:00 What I need it to do is read the actual timecode that is embeded in the file.

Incidentally askimery, you are a life saver.....or at least a time saver. Sending to Compressor will save me hours. Thank you.

Hey, no sweat. That's what these forums are for.

W/regards to the TC Generator in Compressor, if you leave the "Start Timecode at..." box UNchecked then it should display the timecode embedded on the clip itself.

If you have a Kona or Decklink card and fast enough drives, you should be able add the TC reader and then play the footage out in real time to a DVD recorder without rendering. The TC reader is supposed to be a real time effect with supported codecs, and the downconvert is done in real time by the capture card.
