need comments : DIY HMI 250W test on Panasonic DVCProHD

I've made several DIY here.

Overdrive Metal Halide 150W to 250W. i've found that color are more balanced from specification on box at 6000K.

Achieve more red and make pretty Balance color.

in fact it is arctube that i shatter outer bulb UV cut glass off and put it in 500W halogen worklight. sound scary but it's for experiment :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

in real world use have to use UV cut like other HMI Does.

this is that it's looks like all this pics are capture from Bold 9700 with portrait WB

This is Arctube itself

Note: This is experimental so bulb will not be in properly fixture. i'll buy more one to use within it's UV cut envelop and overdrive to 200W so reddish color will reduce significantly.

Video taken from Panasonic DVCProHD (i can't remember detail of model) at Preset WB 5600K this one drive with Magnetic Ballast ,When experiment complete Electronic gear will involved to the project.
:cheesy:

There have to be about twenty-seven good health and safety reasons for not doing this ... starting with that the UV glass is there to prevent your skin and retinas from being burned, and overdriving the bulb is going to lead to premature failure that could possibly involve flying hot bits of glass which the outer envelope isn't there to contain anymore. I'm really glad you're still alive and your house is still standing.

Somebody convince me that this isn't only about one step removed from playing around with explosives.

Thanks Greg. next time experiment with normal one w/ envelop.

in experiment temper-glass front of halogen fixture prevent shattering of glass. and cut down some UV i wear goggle for this experiment everytime

As to over driving there was/is a company called booster HMI that did this very thing with some success. It may have shortened the life but honestly I can hardly remember a time when I used an HMI lamp to it "end life". They always get broken in some mishap long before that day. I guess it is just the way things go on hard productions.

Also if you are going to handle the lamp with your bare fingers like that be sure to clean off all the oil residue from your skin, as the lamp could explode.

Things about to do with this lamp i know very first time before experiment.

Handle it with bare hand need to be clean.

i 've experiment with more dangerous bulb like UHP Projector bulb then experience in this kind not a problem for me :lipsrseal
