Need ASAP help with broadcast levels / colors in pp2

OK i am trying to finish a project in the next couple hours and i need to understand PP2's scopes and such.
first off, do i use the "setup (7.5)" checkbox? I can't seem to understand what that does. So far the station saw one of my clips and said it was "too dark" i am guessing it's cause i did no tweaking and it's a 0 instead of 7.5

second, i tried to just apply levels to the whole project with black output of 16 and white output of 235.. then after looking at scopes it seems that i get a more "correct" 7.5 - 100 result if i set black to 20 and white to 250

third, even though levels are now set, whenever i have a "fade to black" it still dips to 0 and at one point in the footage i have some stuff dip to 0 as well. shouldnt levels fix this?

can someone tell me really quickly the proper way to use all this info and these tools.

this is my first project for broadcast so i'm a bit new at the whole scopes thing

If any of you can, please IM me at FiddlerMD (aim or yahoo same ID). If not, just reply to the thread.
Thanks a lot.

I have delivered at least twelve videos to tv stations had one commercial play in several markets. I have a TV show that plays weekly in one market and have never had a station kick back a video.

I don’t use the scopes I am always fighting a deadline. What I do is color correct with a plasma monitor and my computer monitor until I have an image that is pleasing both. Then I save my program as a single file to print to tape right before I print I apply a broadcast colors filter render and print. I have never had one kick back. I have had the tec at the tv station that was uploading my tv show to there system say “how do you get such a great look”.

I shoot in 24p sometimes 30p white balance and color correct to my personal taste and apply broadcast filter so far it has worked every time. If someone says that it looks different I say thanks that is what I was going for.

I must say if I had more time I may learn to use the scopes but I don’t see that happening because I don’t have more time.

I use the scopes at both ends. Shoot and Post Prod.

My TVCs are for broadcast.

Its not too difficult. Basic concept is that the scopes show - Blacks/ Whites and Mids(gammas). Do a test with some bars up on a timeline. See where the whites and blacks and 18% grey mid tone sit on the scope.

Images should sit in the same ranges because they are made from the scale of black to white.

If the whites are too high they form a flat line at the 100 ( 1 mvolt) - called clipping and not good for broadcast.
