Hello, I am working on a new screenplay and plan to start shooting sometime next spring (hopefully first day of spring). Here are some of my facts/concerns:

1. The story is a suspense/thriller with fair amount of dramatic moments
2. Lots of outdoor locations like A Grocery Store, An abdandant trainyard, Subway etc.
3. small budget - I own some of the equipment but plan to rent the rest.
4. running lenght 30-45 minutes
5. not targetting any specific fest etc but more as a self promo show reel. Hope to get the website and word of mouth going once the film kicks off.
6. The story is good (not earth shattering) but I feel if justic is done to the kind of characters that I am trying to sketch on paper, then it would be worth it.
7. I plan to use DVX100b with M2.

So those are the facts. Now the concers:

1. I am banking a lot on good actors so I am ready to allocate a good portion of the budget to pro/semi pro actors. How difficult would it be for me to find actors of certain calliber who couuld pull this off? How do i go about finding these actors? How much they nornally charge?

2. Since budget is limited, i will stick to DV. What limitatioins do you see in this in terms of showcasing it in a fest and a possible film-out later? (this is provided the film is good enough)

3. What kind of permissions and stuff i need to shoot on locations like a subway train, Grocery store, fraight train station?

4. Even though i am ok technically, I really want to focus more on directing so ideally i would like to hire a DP as well but again the budget is limited.

5. Is it true that a page worth of material is equal to about one minute of shooting. does it mean I am looking at about 30-45 pages or is it very subjective to the action etc?

6. Even though its my film/vision, I am hoping to fill some of my lack of experiece with working with an experienced team. What are the pitfalls of getting the Team involved in the development of idea process.

I would appreciate any comments.

Cheers,

-Krish
