need advice on transferring video

I have a video file that is 3.29gb to a friend in arizona and I can't figure out how to get it to him. I've realized that burning it to a dvd doesn't let you retrieve the info back I don't think as a video file. And I don't want to spread it out over 7 cd's. And I've tried direct transfer over AIM but that won't work either.

Any other options?
 
DVD rippers can get all the info back...good ones, anyway.

But never mind that.

Instead of creating/burning a DVD as a DVD, will the files fit on the DVD as just data files? (Or 2 DVDs, if necessary? Better than 7 CDs, anyway.)

What he said, use Nero and make a data cd, dump it as a raw file.
