Hi, guys i hope someone can help me with this. I am shooting a pilot for a music television show and i need help in setting up the audio.

Ok i will have 3 host and about 3 artist and we are all going to be conversating with each other the same time. I want to be able to have a back up audio recording as well just in case something happens.

What equipment mixer do i need to set this up.

I want to use wireless mic's for all.

Thanks and i appreciate your help.

where does it taken place -studio , street, other place?
any live music , play back , please give us more information

Its taken place at a night club, yes we will have live music and performances, and a music video countdown

Thanks for your reply

If you are shooting a pilot, you should take the money you would spend on audio equipment and use it to hire a capable sound mixer with gear to do the gig.

Pilots are really important, and too many of them suffer from bad sound. Bad sound will turn off whoever you are shopping it around to. If you are unsure of how to do the gig (sound wise), then get someone who can do it.

you will probably need 2 separate consoles - or one large one
to handle the music and the dialog section
might be the dynamics ( wireless or not ) would be the answer to conversation during live music or pb
dont know how much instruments you have on the stage - but that is as minimum 6-10 inputs + few microphones on the stage for singing , few wireless for convesations while the band donst play , audience microphones and pb
i guess that 24-32 inputs to handle the whale sources
you can record straight mix , but better separate it for groups if you dont wont to run all the tracks separately
i might think that 2 8 tracks( da78-98) or similar with additional camera tracks would give enough to fix the stuff in post if something going wrong
you might need a separate eng crew to cover stuff during the shooting with separate setup
its quit hard to give advises without see the full line up and setup you like to bring in
like dave sad - after you really set for what are you going to do , bring soundmixer to establish the work flow
