Need advice in picking representation

Hi Everyone,

I've been one of those guys that have been posting here on how to get signed or get representation. Well, the advice that I gotten here was right. I was included in a showcase in New York and two companies are interested in signing me.

One is in LA, and the other one is in NY.

The one in LA wants to represent me in the feature film world and NY wants to sign me for his production company, I think... or maybe rep me. I have a phone meeting with LA this afternoon.

Can you give me some advice on what to expect from these kinds of things and such it would great to hear from directors that have been through these kinds of things here.

Thank you all! Peace

How did the LA meeting go? Most phone calls or meetings in general are kind of a meet and greet session. They want to know what you have...what projects you have in the works...how much you know about the business...how much work they will have to do if they represent you....how flexible you are to receiving feedback...how open you are to making changes in your work, etc. In other words are you a hustler that makes things happen and who also happens to be a nice person and is easy to work with? Can you make them money? If the NY contact is only one production company then not sure what their approach is unless they want to buy your script/film to shoot with you attached. An agent will get you into many production companies...depending on who the agent is...if it is an agent.

Give us more specifics on who these people are...don't need names...but what they do exactly.

Well, LA is a rep/manager and NY is a commercial director that opened his own company. LA didn't call, he emailed me saying he's stuck in a meeting. I talked with NY and he wants me to be one of his commercial directors. I'm flying to NY next week to meet him.
