Need advice - green screen backdrop purchase

Hi there.

I'm shooting two upcoming videos with green screen and I'd like to purchase a portable support stand and green curtain.

Prices seem to vary wildly, and I'm hoping for some recommendations of the best quality green backdrop (roughly 9' x 12').

Lasolite sells one for $264.00 while Tube Tape (tubetape.com) sells for $135.00

Am I missing something here? Is one really thin, wrinkles easily etc? It's difficult to tell from the pictures. Obviously it would be nice to having something thick and wrinkle resistant

Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Peter

P.S. Do they make green backdrops from felt? I have a black felt backdrop that has never creased once in 5 years of folding and unfolding it.

The biggest challenge in using a green (or blue) screen is the lighting.
You should review some of the tutorials for lighting a green screen
on-line.

My green screen won't wrinkle!

I built a frame using 2" x 4" 's , (mine is 8' x 12') then used 2 thin sheets
of plywood (4' X 8' each) to provide a rigid base. My next step was to
use construction glue to attach masonite to the plywood. Where the seems
came together, I added a extremely thin coating of dry wall paste then
very fine sandpaper.

I checked out the paint department and grabbed several "paint sample"
papers that seemed close to chroma key green and took them to a friend
who worked at a local TV station. We compared samples and I purchased
green paint that was a really close match (almost identical). I used the
recommended paint primer described on the paper sample then two
coats of green paint.

It works great. I spent about $100 total and have a pretty large green
screen in my studio (garage). The really close match came from Lowe's
paint department, but I would think almost any large "building store"
would have something similar. I was in Lowe's looking for something
else and just happened to spot the green paint sample paper as I
walked by the paint department. I picked up 5 samples, the one I thought
looked the most like green chroma key, then 2 samples darked and 2 samples lighter.

Think about it..

Thanks everyone

Thanks Everyone.

I appreciate the advice. Portability is a factor, so I can't build a frame. However, there are some screens for sale online that should be suitable.

Thanks again.
