Need advice for green screen interviews

I'm working on a video for a philanthropy event; I interviewed a bunch of people in front of a green screen; Thinking I was going to put in an animated background from digital juice.

I just checked out the digital juice's motion backgrounds, and it seems like it may be a little distracting, and take away from what the people are saying.

Does anyone have any experience with this sorta thing? Maybe I should just put a still backdrop instead?

I found this example which works in this case:

But for my interviews the content is more emotional and I don't want all that craziness motion

Personally, i avoid green screen bgs like the plague. Even if its lit and keyed really well, it is rare that a greenscreen BG actually helps the storyline. It just tends to look newesy or industrial.

Being that you have already chosen this route, can you do something simple and classy like all black or all white (or black with a subtile white circular gradient behind the interviewee?

In the future, my suggestion would be to reconsider lighting the actual room, especially if it an emotionally charged or personal story that is being filmed.

cool, thanks for the advice! All black sounds like it might work, but i think one person was wearing a black shirt which might cause a problem.

A stark black BG can be extremely dramatic if that is what you need, but you will almost for sure get some of the visible edge around your people's keys. I've used a lot of D.Juice backgrounds, some animated and some as stills in cases like yours. I think if done right they can give a more modern look & feel to the project. And they can provide some variety for a lot of interviews that had to be done at the same time and place. I usually lower the video level on them so they won't be too distracting and use slowmo on animations. And you might want to consider the subtle addition of a client's logo, graphic element or a video still over the shoulder at times.
