Need Advice: 15-hour time lapse shoot

Hey everyone. Just got a rather high profile gig to shoot an exterior, stationary subject from before dawn 'til nightfall. Am going to use an HPX, Canon 5dMII, and possibly an XHA1 for backup. It's a remote location with no power options beyond batteries (got about 20 hours worth) and an AC converter from a SUV. Have got 64GB of P2 storage and can offload to a P2 field deck (60GB AJ-PCS060G). Security and clearance issues abound, so there's only one chance to nail this.

I have to shoot 720p and have no clue how to approach it.

Am two weeks out and seeking advice. Cloud movement, sunlight, and shadows are the focus.

Por favor,

If I was shooting this, I'd bail on everything but the Canon. I have been doing a ton of timelapses in Chicago since I moved here, and my workflow is as follows.

Nikon camera + Camera Control Pro 2 (not sure what the equivelent is for Canon) wired to my laptop. Set to take a photo every X seconds, and runs till I hit escape and tell it to stop snapping. If you turn the monitor lighting to OFF, my laptop (macbook pro) can get 10+ hours.

To avoid power downtime, I'd get an extended battery grip for the camera. That way you can remove one battery and remain on power, while you drop in a fully charged battery. Gives you the option to hot swap without losing power entirely.

From what I know about the Canon (always used Nikon myself) is that the intervalometer can be purchased seperately, and requires no laptop to control the camera. So I'd get a few 5d's, extended battery grips, intervalometer, and have at it. Reframe it to 720P once you get the shots, and your good to go

Good luck with the shoot. I'd love to hear what you finally ended up going with
