Agree that the interaction should involve the wife it is going to be the source of suspecting him in her murder. Here's sexest, and angry involving the wife and the girls.

"What I can't even look at girsl now? Jesus, Carol."
"I didn't say anything."
"I'm so sick of your shi*. Do you have to ruin a frickin' bike ride in the park!"
thinking the conversation would escalate in volume as they passed so they could hear all of it.

here's a shorter version

"What I can't even look at girls now? Jesus, Carol you gotta ruin our whole damn afternoon?"

a harsher version

"What I can't even look at girls now? Jesus, Carol just shut your mouth and ride."

I like this idea quite a lot. Its not meant to be funny as such. More, a little serious.
